Focus! Focus! Focus!

We're watching "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes" at the motel hotel right now- it's about highly competitive teenage gymnasts and the eating disorders and injuries that apparently come with the territory (according to the Lifetime television network). You may remember the following lines from the film, which apparently won an Eddie award for Best Edited Two-Hour Movie for Commercial Television:
"You're not a mother anymore. You're a cheerleader."
"Can I spot you?" (Heartfelt mother-daughter moment)
"Gymnastics is about facing your fear... I picked you, because I saw steel inside. Don't tell me I was wrong."
"LGIPB" stars Courtney Peldon, one of the seminal mainstays of GoFugYourself.com, and Swoosie Kurtz, who used to play the menopausal mother of Ashley Judd on the soap opera drama "Sisters" and also won two Tony Awards. So Courtney Peldon is kind of an anomaly to me- she was the popular cheerleader in "Little Giants" I always wanted to be like. Anyways, Courntey Peldon, or CoPel, is now engaged or was engaged or is married to Crispin Glover. See the picture of them two above. Love byrds.

All that to say that rowing in the rain is fun and kind of magical, but running in it is just wet. We had a big fat boat meeting to try to get all the personality conflict misunderstandings out in the open. We're performing a squad skit in front of the entire team tomorrow night, so we've been practicing that today. Hunger and tiredness and soreness abounds...

And I am having troubles focusing while I'm on the water- maybe it has something to do with me always worrying about things like CoPel and Crispin having love babies and forcing their innocent brood to be featured in "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes: Part 2" where CoPel's daughter becomes a gymnast and CoPel must face her gymnastics demons once and for all. Perhaps there will even be a cameo made by Mary Lou Retton, who will tell us that gymnastics is fun- but only if you're eating and not breaking your bones. Better yet, make it Nadia Komenich. CoPel will finally win that Best Supporting Actress Eddie Award that was robbed from her.

We are running out of Ace Bandages for our blisters in my room. Apparently some of the Varsity Men were grabassing last night (i.e. jousting or jabbing or something like that) and one of them now has a broken nose. Awesome. And today my coach asked us if we were the kind of team that wanted to win at SIRA or wanted to hang out with boys at SIRA. Yes, he was talking about the grabassing boys. Eww
